I purchased a 2020 RAV4 in AZ. Exactly the trim and model I was looking for. Comes back to CA where I live. Easy right? Camelback Toyota in AZ FedEx over all the paperwork as I just had major surgery and wasn’t ready to fly or sit on a long car ride back to CA yet. The first time the paperwork came over it did state “TIARA NIEVES”, and I called them right away and had them fix it, and re-send over everything again. This time everything was correct, I signed and sent it back. Boom done…….

I went to the CA DMV to register my new car. I was there for over 3.5hrs dealing with them, and come to find out I cannot register my car due to missing paperwork and not completed properly. They told me I needed a “statement of facts” and a “power of attorney” from Toyota to complete everything and be all set. I asked the DMV if I could call Toyota and maybe they can talk to them and have Toyota fax them over what they needed, ya know easy-peasy, but they told me “they don’t operate like that”. Of course not, why make it simple.

THIS IS WHERE IT ALL STARTS 

So I go home and call Toyota Financial. I tell them everything the DMV tells me I need, and they say they can do all that and it will take 10 business days. Ok cool.

FAST FORWARD to FEB 4TH 

About a week goes by and I get a fax from Toyota……Every paper says TIARA NIEVES. That’s not my name, and DMV will not accept it. So I get back on the phone with Toyota again…..

The lady I spoke to said, and I Quote…. “I thought the I was silent when you pronounced your name”. I tell her no, and then tell her my full legal name and spelled it all out for her. She says it will take another 7-10 business days to fix everything. -_- I proceed to tell her, we are literally running out of time on my temp registration from CA DMV…. Like this should’ve been fixed WEEKS ago, and that I cannot wait another “10 days”. She apologizes and says she will escalate to a manager.

Guess what??? It’s still not fixed….apparently now TIARA-NIEVES A and TIARA NIEVES both are owners and co-owners……..tell me how that’s possible?! I literally cannot make this story up.

Now in between all these calls below, I’ve called for updates and statuses…. It’s been the most time-consuming and stressful event I’ve had to deal with.

JFC Toyota is going to give me a fucking heart attack. MY NAME IS STILL NOT RIGHT…… NOW THEY ADDED 2 people to my lease.

*Calls AGAIN*

The guy who answered THIS time is like

“whos Tiara then?”

me: I DONT KNOW……YOU TELL ME BC ITS NOT ME! IVE BEEN TRYING FOR WEEKS TO GET YOU TO FIX THIS SO I CAN REGISTER MY CAR, I have about a week left before it expires!

“How did this name get on there?”

AHAHFHASFHASJFHSDJKFHDSJFHDSJFHDSFJSHDFJHDFJHFSDAFJ I D O N T K N O W!

So at this point, the main leasee is TIARA-NIEVES A, and the Co-Signer is TIARA NIEVES

……………….

After a lengthy 1hr+ call, he talked to a manager and it’s supposedly been escalated….. and I should call back tomorrow AM to follow-up. I was also told that “should I incur any extra charges from CA DMV to send the receipts to Toyota and they would handle it”

I then decided to email the Dealership where I purchased the car, and see if they knew anything/could help/etc. Like HOW THE FUCK does this happen? Still no response from them….Guessing after a sale they’re happy to walk away and wipe their hands of it.

Got up nice and early to call in first thing in the morning.

Toyota: Yes ma’am, are you with the DMV?

Me: No….I’m the owner on the lease…..trying to get the paperwork I need.

Toyota: OK So you’re not calling from the DMV? What do you need?

Me: I need the paperwork with my RIGHT NAME TO REGISTER THE CAR. I’ve been calling since JAN and this still isn’t right…..as of last night TIARA A NIEVES and TIARA NIEVES were the leaseholders…that’s not even close to correct.

Toyota: OK Yea I’m seeing TIARA as the lease owner and co-owner still. I need to put you on hold.

Toyota: Ma’am this has been escalated and should be taken care of

Me: When? We are on a deadline at this point.

Toyota: It’s been escalated and should be sent over to you by 5PM end of the business day.

Now we wait yet again……

If this ever gets corrected I STILL NEED TO AGAIN TAKE OFF WORK and go back to CA DMV and register my car. -_-
